stuck part 1

there's two things that are NOT making my life perfect: my job and my current house. the first one is understandable, maybe, since this is my first job. but the second one i really should have mastered by now - choosing a house, that is. it is something i've done on an annual basis, actually. come to think of it, that goes down as a poor track record.

despite acquiring a checklist of the do's and don't's when choosing a new house, some unprecedented problem always crops up a few months into moving in. somehow, i just can't get the hang of this moving business.

this is what the checklist looked like before moving into this house:

1. dsl connection
2. no animal sounds that wake me in the morning
3. no annoying children in the same house
4. no occasional ugly child who wants to be kissed
5. no inconsiderate roommates
6. no dark, narrow alleys which you cannot pass when using an umbrella and where you may step on puddles and crap
7. no cockroach and other vermin
8. no pesky/evil landlady
9. no unfair sharing of electricity bill
10. no toilet problem
11. flood proof

add item 12: acoustics.
this works two ways: you will have neighbors with babies or flute-playing children and will constantly fight the urge to shush them. or, you will have girlfriends over - loud, after getting drunk somewhere - and your neighbors will not hesitate to shush you.

yeah, so now i can't really entertain at home. at least until i find a way to noise-proof this wafer-walled unit.

let this be a guide to all you house-hunting fellas :p
